Meanwhile, Back in Texas …
- On December 27, 2025
When we’re home in Dallas, we often find ourselves doing everyday stuff – birding from our balcony, seeing friends, having in-person Pilates sessions, enjoying favorite restaurants, and taking care of financial, medical and similar chores. We’ve been working on donating accumulated stuff and organizing old photos and sound recordings. Karen has also been chairing the Common Property Plan committee for our neighborhood. She hopes that early 2026 will bring agreement on the best way to maintain and enhance the open spaces that make ours such a special neighborhood.

We usually go to the Texas coast for the spring bird migration. But this year we took a different route to get there. We started at the KT Ranch and drove southeast to Junction TX and South Llano River State Park. This part of the Texas Hill Country is very much like the area outside Austin, and it reminded us of what we enjoyed when we first moved to Texas … forty years ago!

We drove from there to the upper Texas coast. Birding was rather slow this year. But we enjoyed a great Indian dinner with Ann Kovich at Desi Dhabi and a Mexi-Cajun dinner at Tia Juanita’s with Ray Heitmann and Karen Kasmiroski. For the first time, we got to stay at the only cabin available at Sea Rim State Park.

We’re back in Dallas this December, enjoying the holiday season here for the first time in a few years.
