The Lewisville community is engaged!

Having worked with the City of Lewisville since 2013, I know how engaged and passionate the Lewisville community is. But it’s always fun to see that enthusiasm reflected in a new way with a different mix of people. I’m delighted to be working with Lewisville, Freese & Nichols and RAYO Consulting on the Lewisville 2035 Vision Plan. The recent meeting of the project Steering Committee meeting showed why. The Steering Committee is working in eight subcommittees, such as ‘Natural Lewisville’, ‘Safe Lewisville’ and ‘Playful Lewisville’. At this meeting, each subcommittee described the strengths and challenges facing Lewisville from their perspective. They also presented their ideas about the strength or challenge that has the greatest potential for positive impact on Lewisville’s future.

During the meeting, I asked each subcommittee to consider how the ideas from one of the other subcommittees could be addressed by their own topic. I’d designed this exercise to intentionally focus on the ways these topics are inter-related. Even so, I was really impressed with the creativity of the results.  Just as an example, one idea was to use AI to quantify the way Lewisville’s many natural spaces benefit the health of neighborhood residents. We’re early in this visioning process but Lewisville is certainly on track to create a new 2035 plan to build on its success with the 2025 Vision Plan.
