In January, Terry kicked off his birding year with long-time buddy Jim Arneson in Costa Rica after an absence of nearly 30 years.  After meeting guide Jorge Campos in San Jose CR, the pair headed for the Pacific coast, ending up at the exquisite Esquinas Rainforest Lodge in southwestern Costa Rica.  This area of tropical rainforest holds some unique Central American birds.  The return trip took Terry and Jim over Cerro de la Muerte (Mountain of Death), for high country birds in Costa Rica’s Cordillera Talamanca, where they spent three days birding in the rain, staging at the Talari Mountain Lodge..  For an all too short trip, a good time was had by all.
