Congratulations to the 2024 Fellows!
- On April 16, 2024
I was pleased to celebrate with the latest class of Fellows of the American Institute of Certified Planners. Induction as a Fellow is one of the highest honors a planner can receive. This class has 33 members. Of those, several are friends and colleagues. These include:
- Kim Mickelson FAICP. Kim has been a leader in Texas and nationally, and brings a great perspective as both a planner and lawyer. She continues to be a key to legal and legislative issues in Texas planning.
- Angela Calvin Self FAICP. I’ve worked with Angela for a very long time now – since my days at The Dallas Plan and hers at the City of Dallas back in the 1990’s. She’s led important efforts related to neighborhood revitalization in the communities she’s served, and has helped ‘first ring suburb’ neighborhoods adapt to remain successful.
- Chance Sparks FAICP. Chance was Texas Chapter President a few years ago. I worked with him on our efforts to strengthen APA Texas advocacy for communities and planning. He always has a great smile and a creative attitude that help him be successful and innovative.
APA’s website shows the full list of new Fellows. The Fellows induction ceremony was held as part of the National Planning Conference in Minneapolis.
As is our tradition, the Texas Chapter held a dinner during the conference to celebrate our new Texas Fellows. In addition to Kim, Angela and Chance, we also welcomed Annick Beaudet as a Fellow.
