Catching Up in Kansas City and Oregon

While Karen was in California in February aiding in the sale of the family residence, Terry visited his friends in Kansas City, where he had not been for several years.   The first stop was St. Joseph Mo., where he spent a snowy evening with cousin Debbie and her husband Johnny.  In Kansas City he saw many old friends, among them his high school girlfriend Serge Staggs, high school classmate Ivan Katzer, law school comrade Larry Schaffer, as well as old time friends Marilyn and Frank McCarthy and Steve and Marti Chinn.  It was a compact but marvelous few days, which he hopes to repeat from time to time. 

Terry also made a whirlwind trip to Oregon in October to bird with Jim Arneson around Bend, Fort Rock and Malheur National Wildlife Refuge. Then on to Portland for a luncheon with former law partner John Shonkwiler, overnighting with John and Marlene Tuthill. The final leg was to Depoe Bay and Newport on Oregon’s mid-coast to visit long-time friend and fellow birder Jeff Gilligan. The birds were on the light side, but friends were great.
