Project Description
Affordable Housing Plan
Working with staff from the City of Fort Worth and housing-related non-profit organizations, in 2018 SCS led a process to develop a new and coordinated approach to the issues of housing demand, affordability for various income groups and homelessness. The process led to creation of a plan and action strategy for collaboration and implementation by the City of Fort Worth, the Fort Worth Housing Finance Corporation, Tarrant County, Fort Worth Housing Solutions, the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition, Trinity Habitat for Humanity and other organizations.
Environmental Management Plan
In 2017, the City of Fort Worth began the development of a first-ever environmental plan. SCS managed public involvement for this project and worked with City staff and other consultants to develop strategy approaches and methods for gaining public input. This innovative plan was adopted by City Council in 2019.
Local Floodplain Policy
As part of implementing the updated Storm Water Utility Master Plan, the Halff Associates team was asked to work with the City and the community to develop policies addressing flooding in areas that are not included in the FEMA 100-year floodplain designation. SCS again worked with the Halff team on public engagement, including work with a steering committee and community workshops.
Storm Water Utility Master Plan Update
SCS was part of a team led by Halff Associates charged with reviewing and updating the City’s Storm Water Utility Master Plan. SCS provides assistance with facilitation of sessions for staff and the community, as well as strategic direction and communications recommendations. The new plan was adopted in 2018.
University/Berry Urban Village Area Study
Strategic Community Solutions was part of a team led by HOK that assisted the City of Fort Worth in its creation of urban villages. Strategic Community Solutions participated in the team addressing the University/Berry urban village. The firm evaluated urban design issues in this village, secured stakeholder input on these issues and drafted recommendations for zoning revisions, new design guidelines, location of a preferred future transit site and design strategies to connect this station to the University/Berry urban village.
