We spent Thanksgiving and Christmas in Dallas for the first time in a long time.  The main activities were relaxing and cooking.  The Thanksgiving turkey was as good as always; the experimental Pumpkin Chiffon Pie with Gingersnap Crust tasted pretty good but didn’t look nearly as impressive as it should have for the time it took.

Pumpkin Chiffon Pie — a time consuming recipe.

On the other hand, the Slow-Cooked Duck with Green Olives and Herbs de Provence we had for Christmas was delicious!

Christmas dinner — Slow-Cooked Duck.

Everyone’s ready for Christmas! Dad’s Nativity scene has a new home here.

We enjoyed New Year’s at the KT Ranch with Terry’s sister Nancy and her friend Kim.  What a great time!  We were surprised by snow three days while we were there – more than ever before – so we did less hiking than expected.  But we had lots of good food, movies, games and conversation.

Surprised by snow.

That slow cooked duck sounds wonderful. Will have to try doing that for Christmas sometime.
